CAR :  THE CORDILLERA AUTONOMOUS REGION

The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Philippines' only land-locked region, consists of the provinces of Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province and ApayaoBaguio City is the regional center for this region which encompasses most of the areas within the Cordillera Central mountain range of Luzon- the largest range in the country. This region is home to numerous indigenous tribes collectively called the Igorot.

REGION - 1 :  THE ILOCOS REGION
 

The Ilocos Region or Region I of the Philippines, is located in the northwestern region portion of Luzon. It is bounded by the Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley to the east, Central Luzon to the south and by the South China Sea to the west.

The region is composed of four provinces, namely: Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan.

REGION - 2 :  THE CAGAYAN VALLEY REGION

Cagayan Valley is a region of the Philippinesdesignated as Region II.  It is composed of five provinces, namely: Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino. Its regional center is Tuguegarao City.

REGION - 3 :  THE CENTRAL PLAINS OF LUZON
 

Central Luzon, also known as Region III (or Region 3), is an administrative division or region of the  Philippines, primarily serve to organize the 7 provinces of the vast central plain of the island of Luzo (the largest island), for administrative convenience. The Region contains the largest plain in the country which produces most of the country's rice supply, and is composed of the provinces of: Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Zambales.

REGION IVA & IVB:  THE CALABARZON & MIMAROPA REGIONS
 
CALABARZON and MIMAROPA were previously combined together as Southern Tagalog, until they were separated in 2002.

MIMAROPA is one of the two regions of the Philippines having no land border with another region (Eastern Visayas being the other), and is designated as REGION  IV-B. The name is an acronym that stands for its provinces which are: Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan.

ARMM :  THE AUTONOMOUS REGION IN MUSLIM MINDANAO

The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) is the region of the Philippines that is composed of all the Philippines' predominantly Muslim provinces, namely: Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Shariff Kabunsuan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi, and the Philippines' only predominantly Muslim city, the Islamic City of Marawi. It is the only region that has its own government. The regional capital is at Cotabato City, although this city is outside of its jurisdiction.
